PCT Goes Deliciously Wonky with Season Kickoff
Palm Canyon Theatre is serving up its 29th season opener like a golden-wrapped truffle: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory hits the Palm Springs stage October 3–12, 2025. The Broadway reboot sprinkles in new tunes alongside classics like “Pure Imagination” and “The Candy Man,” making Dahl’s classic sparkle with song and mischief.
Desmond McLeod takes the stage as sweet-hearted Charlie, opposite Scott Clinkscales’ wonderfully eccentric Willy Wonka. The golden ticket gang—Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregard, and Mike Teavee—cause all their glorious trouble, backed by a sugar-rush ensemble of 41 performers, many fresh from PCT’s Summer Kids Camp.
Directed by Se Layne, with music by Chuck Peery and choreography by Tegr Powell, the show promises color, chaos, and plenty of candy-coated fun. Curtain times are Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets start at $20 at palmcanyontheatre.org or 760-323-5123.
