WeGoViral Crime:
Breastfeeding a baby is perhaps the most intimate moment between a mother and baby. But unfortunately, a mother from California has now suffocated her only seven-month-old toddler in the process. As a result, Celina Juarez will soon have to stand trial for murdering little Melani and endangering her twin sister Zari.
As reported by several media outlets, the woman was arrested earlier this month in San Jose, California. To the officials, Juarez confessed to having killed the child. The mother was frustrated because the baby would not suckle at the breast.
Killer's mother was frustrated and hungry.
The father had left the house at 6:30 a.m. on November 4; Celina Juarez went to church and shopping with the twins and another two-year-old child. When they returned home at noon, the children were "sick and fussy," she said. About herself, the mother-of-three said she had been "frustrated" and had "not eaten all day."
The twins began to cry; instead of bottle-feeding as usual, Juarez gave the babies the breast. What happened next is described by police as, "She intentionally pushed her baby very hard against her right breast so she couldn't catch her breath." Next, the defendant reportedly felt Melani "gasp for air" and kick around. Finally, after more than ten minutes, she allegedly placed the unconscious body on a bed.
Twin sister Zari to make a full recovery
Zari also pressed Celina Juarez against her chest (according to police, "without letting it come to breathe") but eventually let go of the toddler. She waited 20 minutes before calling her mother for help. She notified her brother, who drove by and finally dialed 911.
The twin sisters arrived at a hospital, where Melani lost the fight for her life after two days. She had suffered intermittent cardiac and respiratory arrest during the chest-pushing procedure. Zari is expected to make a full recovery, according to the hospital.
