PGA and American Express held a media day at the upcoming American Express PGA golf tournament site. About 100 media representatives were informed about all the changes to the course and new updates for the spectators. The course has been updated with all-new and redone 18 greens. It was stated that the tournament has donated over 66 million dollars to local charities since it started. This year's Charity of the Year is the Ophelia Project.
They announced that they will have the best players in the world, including the PGA's number one and two, along with other big names and winners: 2024 Champion Nick Dunlap, Scottie Scheffler, Rickie Fowler, Tony Finau, and Xander Schauffele. Just a few of the big names in golf will be playing. They also announced that 17-year-old golfer Blades Brown turned pro that day and will play under a sponsor's exemption, a new addition to the field.
They are proud to be able to bring the top names in golf to the tournament. This is the only PGA tournament that still has a 156-player field. They still use three golf courses and have the largest pro-am. The courses played are PGA West and LaQuinta Country Club. There will be larger tent areas, updated spots for watching, new and more significant facilities for food and drink vendors, and larger tents for current, former, and veterans. The spectator experience is foremost in their plans.
The excitement surrounds the two concerts held after golf: Journey and Little Big Town, which are iconic bands that you get to see. After breakfast, the media was out on the golf course to play and experience the pristine course the pros will be playing in a few short weeks.
