The blood trail led to the chicken coop ...
In the Irish village of Killahornia, Dutchman Jasper Kraus was killed by a rooster. The incident occurred as early as April 28, 2022, but only now became public through a hearing.
The Dutchman (shown here with an owl on his shoulder) was seriously ill
Jasper Kraus' daughter, Virginia Guinan, testified that he had only just beaten cancer before his death and was still taking many medications due to other serious illnesses such as kidney failure.
Dutch was asleep when Virgina Guinan came by around noon to drop off groceries for him. She had not wanted to wake her father because he was still sad about his dog, which had recently died.
After Guinan left, the Brahma rooster must have snuck into the house. The animal kept sinking its claws into the legs of the family man. Finally, Jasper Kraus woke up in pain and called his lodger Corey O'Keefe for help - but by then, the seriously ill man had no chance.
Brahma chickens are actually considered peaceful animals
O'Keefe alerted the paramedics and Jasper Kraus' daughter. When Virginia Guinan entered the room, rescuers tried to resuscitate her father. But, according to the lodger, Kraus still managed to murmur the word "cock" before he lost consciousness and died.
But even without that clue, the culprit was quickly unmasked. The rooster had left a blood trail leading Virginia Guinan into the barn. There she discovered the animal and its bloodied claws. She had known immediately that the rooster had attacked her father because her daughter had also been attacked by it once before, Guinan said at the hearing.
According to the autopsy report, Jasper Kraus suffered a large puncture wound in his calf during the aggro rooster's attack, causing severe bleeding. His face was also full of blood, said Dr. Ramadan Shatwan, who conducted the examination.
But in the end, it was shocking that he killed Jasper Kraus. The seriously ill Dutchman suffered a heart attack in the attack, Dr. Shatwan explained.
