CATHERINE JARDINE 1961-2026

Catherine Wayforth Jardine of Landers, California, passed away on 5 November 2026 in Palm Springs. 

Catherine was born on 1 December 1961 in Carlsbad, California, to John and Muriel Jardine. Her lifelong hobbies were photography and attending rock music concerts. She also loved playing her guitar and loved to collect them over the years. Most of all, she loved cats and had so many over the years. 

Overall, she loved her mother Muriel so deeply and was by her side for a very long time. Muriel passed on in 2022 at the age of 94 in Coachella, California, where they were both living at the time.

Catherine joined the staff of Desert Local News in 2006 and covered many city events and rock concerts at the local casinos and arenas for about four years. Her first photo shoot job was the 2006 funeral of President Gerald Ford in Palm Desert alongside reporter Leslie Mariah Andrews. The following year, she captured concert footage of iconic performers Dolly Parton and George Carlin for articles written for our newspaper. 

She is survived by her brother Jay Jardine and by her two cats Max and Ginger. And best remembered by her friends both in person and on social media. Her time here at Desert Local News will never be forgotten, nor will her devotion to sharing her best photographic work with us.
