“We even shared a bed."
She is one of the greats in Hollywood. Because of her, millions of people flock to the cinemas.
Cameron Diaz wowed with movies like "Crazy for Mary," "The Damage Girlfriends" and "Super Cute and Super Sexy." On Tuesday, she celebrates her 50th birthday. Her best friend, Drew Barrymore (47), congratulates her.
"Cameron is my soul mate; she is my mirror, my better self. I have never felt such a connection with a person before. It's a gift to have this woman in my life," the Hollywood star says about her girlfriend.
Even a better person, Diaz has made her. "For Cameron, I don't use plastic bags anymore. And when I brush my teeth, I don't run the water anymore either."
They met in the 1980s. "I was 14 and working in a coffee shop, and she was 16 and had started modeling. She came into the store, and we became friends." Later, they filmed the "3 Angels for Charlie" movies together. But in private, the job stays out. "We're mothers, and we have the same problems. Those are full-length issues," Barrymore says with a laugh.
Laughing is something the two enjoy doing together in the first place - and traveling. "We've been to Hawaii together, the Hamptons, South America, and the Caribbean. We even sleep in the same bed."
The Mask.
The pair's friendship is boundless. They are always there for each other. "Cameron has my house key; she waters my flowers when I need to get away. She babysits and is a lifesaver for me. Cam has been there when I've been down; in my worst moments, she's held my hand; in my best moments, we've partied together."
They want the same for Diaz's 50th. BILD am SONNTAG knows that Barrymore and many other friends are invited to Italy for her birthday. The big party will be celebrated there at the Reschio Estate in Umbria.
Will they also talk about Cameron's comeback and a third "3 Angels for Charlie" movie? "That would probably be more 'Charlie's grannies.' But why not!"
