Teacher Kayla Lemieux's breasts are becoming a political issue! Parents and students of Trafalgar High School in Oakville (Canada) had complained about the trans woman because she wears huge breast prostheses in class. Now they are to be forbidden by her. That's because the school board, under pressure from Ontario's education minister, has ordered staff to develop a dress code that meets "professional standards."
"I believe our fundamental position is that staff must meet the highest standards when they are in front of children," Minister Stephen Lecce said back in December. However, several parents and students believe Lemieux does not. Her giant prostheses, with their clearly accentuated nipples, would "mock women and the educational experience," they said in letters of complaint. Others worried that the prostheses would be a safety hazard when working.
Trans woman targeted by a bomb threat
After pictures of Lemieux first surfaced on the Internet last September, the trans woman was quickly targeted by culture warriors. Then, in November, there were two bomb threats at her school.
"We have several bombs spread throughout the school, and we will not sit idly by while this woke ideology destroys all of Western society," one threatening email read, according to the Toronto Sun.
The right-wing TV station "Rebel Media" also took aim at the trans woman. Host and activist David Menzies attended a school board meeting dressed as a woman with giant breasts. He called for members to resign before a police officer threw him out of the room.
Opinions are divided at school.
The school board had backed the trans woman as recently as September. "Kayla Lemieux is an outstanding teacher," said chair Margo Shuttleworth. The Toronto Sun had also asked students at the time. Twelfth-grader Owen said, "I'm OK with it. I know some of my friends are a little uncomfortable with it. But I think Ms. Lemieux should be able to express herself however she wants."
One mother spoke about Kayla Lemieux in the male form, "He's going a little too far. Standing up for yourself is fine. But to wear something like that in the classroom ... I have concerns."
Kayla Lemieux still needs to comment.
