Unusual sight: Russell Wilson in the Broncos outfit
WeGoViral-Sport:
A romantic return to old love? Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that? There was a real fire in here!
The Seattle Seahawks surprisingly beat the Denver Broncos 17:16 in the Monday night game.
It was ALL about him: Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson (33)! The superstar had played for the Seahawks for ten years. Highlight: 2013 winning the Super Bowl. But it was all over in the off-season. Wilson wanted out; the Seahawks wanted to get rid of him. Eventually, he was sent to Denver for five picks and three players in a mega trade.
So the makers of the NFL schedule thought, What better way to start the season than sending Wilson back to his ex? Nothing!
The Seahawks fans still had a few words for Wilson. "Better win, or he will leave you too," read one poster.
The reunion? Anything but cordial! When Wilson steps back onto the lawn for the first time, he is greeted with a shriek of whistles.
Curious! When Tom Brady returned to New England for the first time last season, he was warmly welcomed. NFL fans who disagree with the Seahawks can't believe it!
But it's not just about the whistles: Many fans have dug out their old Wilson jersey and pasted "traitor" over Wilson's name! What a hate return from a former darling...
Wilson's representative in Seattle is now called Geno Smith. But, first, the quarterback introduces himself with a 36-yard touchdown!
He dodges a sack, then lures the entire Broncos defense. In the back of the defense, Will Dissly is entirely free - touchdown! 7:0!
The Seahawks fans go nuts when Wilson gets his hands on the egg. Then, with success: The defense holds! Denver doesn't get to the end zone and shoots a field goal (30 yards). 7:3.
The Seatle safety injured his left knee.
Very sad: When Seattle superstar Jamal Adams jumps forward chasing Wilson, he injures his knee. He has to be transported. The TV cameras catch Adams even choking back tears.
Nothing happens for a long time until Wilson fires a beam at Jerry Jeudy. The wide receiver shakes off the first one, then two defenders. Nothing can stop him on his way to the end zone. 10:10!
After 292 touchdowns for the Seahawks, now the first for the Broncos.
The Seahawks' answer comes immediately: quarterback Smith realizes that tight end Colby Parkinson is far too badly defended. So he throws the egg at Parkinson's – touchdown. 17:10!
At 17:13, we go on break. Again, Wilson substitute Smith has outstanding stats! 17 of 18 passes, 164 yards, and two touchdowns.
Things get wild in the 3rd quarter: First, the Broncos fumble ON the line to the end zone, then the Seahawks fritter away the egg. Then, Denver works his way back to the end zone - and loses the egg AGAIN!
Denver is marching forward again but conceding far too many penalties overall. On the other hand, Seattle doesn't get much done offensively, either. Therefore, a bad game but a challenging game! Denver scores another field goal at 17:16.
The result keeps the game exciting: Denver works its way to the halfway line with 20 seconds left on the clock. Then the Broncos kicker has to compete for the 64-yard field goal - and forgives.
Wilson certainly imagined his return to Seattle differently. First fan anger, then loosing the game...
