Hundreds of dead sea turtles have been discovered on a beach in southern Mexico in two months. According to residents, there are indications that they got caught in fishing nets and died. The animals washed ashore in Puerto Arista, Chiapas state.
They had no chance of surviving: The badly injured turtles died in agony and were finally washed up on the beach.
A resident involved in burying countless dead turtles on the beach told the DPA: "Until last week, we counted 338 dead turtles, which is an unusually high number."
