Anne Heche († 53) and Ellen DeGeneres (64) were THE power couple of the nineties; their mutual love appearances on the red carpet and their open lesbian relationship were groundbreaking and pioneering.
Anne Heche was rescued from this charred wreck after her accident with severe burns and taken to a hospital, where she died days later.
Anne Heche died after a dramatic car accident in Los Angeles, being taken off life support on August 11 after being declared brain dead. But her great love Ellen will NOT attend the funeral, reports "Radar Online."
Ellen DeGeneres uses her Twitter account to say goodbye to Anne Heche. On Friday, she wrote: "This is a sad day. Sending all my love to Anne's children, family, and friends."
She was no longer one of the friends herself. The distance between the ex-couple became clear the day after the accident when a photographer on the street asked Ellen DeGeneres if she knew how Anne Heche was doing. "We have no contact, so I can't know," said the talk show queen quite soberly. But she wishes her a speedy recovery: "I don't want anyone to get hurt."
On August 5, Anne Heche caused a violent car accident in Los Angeles. Her Mini Cooper crashed into a house wall so hard that it caught fire. Rescue workers took almost an hour to free the actress from the burning car. Heche was injured so severely that she fell into a coma.
In addition, a blood test revealed that the Emmy winner had cocaine and fentanyl in her system. As a result of the crash, she suffered severe anoxic brain trauma and was declared brain dead shortly after that.
Anne Heche leaves behind two sons, Homer (20) and Atlas (13). A source said: "Anne's funeral will be held this week, and Ellen is not invited. Close family and friends only. It will be small and private."
