Former US President Donald Trump (76) is flirting with another presidency. But the revelation by a New York Times journalist and an FBI raid on his home get him in trouble.
When New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman (48) reported in February that Donald Trump (76) flushed documents down the toilet during his presidency that he did not want to pass on to the national archives as required, Trump vehemently disputed everything away.
But now, the journalist is presenting explosive new evidence that could destroy Trump's dreams of another presidency. The photo proof: two Trump notes floating in a toilet. One photo is said to have been taken in a bathroom in the White House. The other in "Air Force One" is on a foreign trip of the 45th US President.
Haberman had reported this to the online news portal "Axios." She gave the journalists an exclusive insight into her new book "Confidence Man. The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America," which is slated for release on October 4th.
She received the photos from a Trump White House source. Why this could be so important: A controversial US law criminalizes the destruction of such documents! Public officials are therefore never allowed to hold their posts again …
“That Mr. Trump disappeared documents in this way was not widely known in the West Wing. Only a few employees knew about this habit,” Haberman explained now.
Donald Trump's camp is unimpressed by the photos and sticks to it: The story is fictitious. Taylor Budowich, a spokesman for Trump: "You have to be pretty desperate when photos of scraps of paper in a toilet are part of a book's marketing plan."
